From teenage years onwards, I have always had a natural affinity with children. I taught English in a school in Bali, Indonesia, to large groups of 14-16 year olds.
I was given complete freedom to create my own lessons and encouraged to make the experience as fun and interactive as possible. I loved the opportunity to get creative with the teaching and learning experience.
We played lots of games and the students were often up and moving about. All of the students’ level of English improved in my time teaching them.
I have spent the last eight years running Parent & Baby/Child groups at a Steiner school at which respect for each child’s unique individuality is at the centre of everything I do.
I have also worked as an assistant in the kindergarten for two years and as cover, supporting children from 2-6 years old.
It is a natural progression for me to want to support children in their learning in a way that encourages learning by discovery, creativity and for the tutor to gauge each child’s learning style and adapt to meet their individual needs.
