Hi there, my name is Alex and I would like to introduce myself; I am a teacher with a little over 8 years’ experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), throughout my career I have held numerous different roles from a teaching assistant early on to, most recently, Acting Head teacher of a small, independent (co-educational) special needs school.
Unfortunately, due to the current global pandemic and our relative size, it was no longer financially viable to remain open which led us down a difficult path toward finding new placements for the children and young adults who were in our care. My next adventure is with a much larger school catering to a population with some quite severe needs and I am very much looking forward to embarking on this journey in the near future.
I trained with Montessori tutors to broaden my own horizons and see for myself what the Montessori method and philosophy had to offer (having heard so many great things second-hand).
Having worked in SEND for the best part of my career, I have a firm grasp on managing challenging behaviours and a calm, caring and compassionate approach to teaching and learning – I hope you feel that I could be of assistance for any challenges or barriers that your child is facing, I look forward to working with you in the near future.
Had a wonderful lesson can’t wait for the next one!
I’ve been very impressed with his approach to helping my daughter. He’s been helping her for over a year and her maths has vastly improved. We would highly recommend him.
